Make the most of school breaks

Children enjoy school breaks, but many lack the resources needed to enrich their time off with fun and educational learning experiences. Out-of-school times can also serve as a critical catch-up opportunity to continue developing skills, especially for children who have little access to cyber-related learning during the school year.

One In Tech (OIT), ISACA’s foundation, is filling this gap with the free School Break Cyber Series, an opportunity for students ages 8-13 to learn cybersecurity basics. The seven-part virtual series, running from July through August 2021, is a no-cost opportunity to experience the CyberSleuths curriculum and videos, which build online navigation skills and expose students to careers in cybersecurity. OIT’s Young Leaders in Tech Program is partnering with six ISACA chapters (ISACA Chicago chapter, ISACA Rhode Island chapter, ISACA Middle Tennessee chapter, ISACA Orange County chapter, ISACA New England chapter, and ISACA Minnesota chapter) and BitsN’Bytes Cybersecurity Education to host each event. Registration is open for children, parents and caregivers, educators, librarians, and ISACA members. Organizations that serve under-resourced children will also be given information on how to engage kids with the School Break Cyber Series.
